About the Mustache Bar


The Mustache is a bar, founded in February 2015, in Prem Sombat Village in Bangkok. Its Belgian style and huge selection of beer attracts a lot of people each day. On multiple levels, one can have a cool drink, eat pizza or simply hang out to the relaxing tunes. 

But that changes at night!  After Dark, the Mustache transforms into on of the best hidden gems of the local Techno movement. From Tuesdays to Saturdays, the Mustache hosts parties starting around 10 PM and lasting into the early morning hours. The unique interior style, creates a homelike feeling and with the DJ standing in the middle of the room, the party is literally everywhere. And even better: The entry is free!

The Techno scene in Bangkok is still very underground, which is why many people don't even know about Mustache's double-life, but within the scene, it is one of THE spots to go. Due to the fact that Niklas himself is a Techno DJ (Sabura), we got in contact with Olivier, the owner of the Mustache, who was kind enough to tell us about his business and events, which he normally doesn't do much. The scene is underground and wants to protect itself against the mainstream. 

Niklas was able to connect with Olivier, so that he now hosts events at Mustache, such as "Sabura All Night Long" and "Mental Delay" which take place once a month. To find the list of upcoming events, simply click on our "Events" page.

Sabura began to play Vinyl and radio shows in 2012, he discovered Techno music in local clubs and became fully infected. He started to create an euphoric impulsive sound that conduct the dancefloor. Interview: The man behind the Mustache

Through our connections to the Mustache Bar, Niklas was able to sit down with the owner and ask some questions about the Bar, Bangkok and the lifestyle. Where are you from? Never say "Hi" in Germany?  Hi, Nilkas, I'm Olivier from Belgium - Brussels Capital. Staying in Bangkok now since 10 years. When did you open the Mustache Bar? I opened Mustache 3 years ago. It was simply a restaurant and the police authorized me to open until 6 AM. So after dinner, we moved the tables and people started to dance with House DJs. Which song would you choose to play, when entering a boxing ring? Benny Hill? What inspired you to combine a restaurant (La bella pizzeria) and a Techno club? I tried everything to bring people earlier, with drink promotions, DJs, etc. But the only thing that worked was FOOD. Mental Delay Aftermovie

On October 14th, we hosted our first event at Mustache. "Mental Delay" was the name and with the help of Louis and Lucas, two fellow students who are studying Media and Communication Design, we were able to create our own designs.  Besides Sabura (Niklas), another friend of his Dan Buri were playing their sets all night long.  Words can only describe so much, but here is a video of the party:
